How do i record Audio or any sound from my Mac either streams from the net, podcasts , music ,speech etc straight into Live.

I arm a track in session view to record but cannot get the sound to come through from my audio i/f. I use the Novation Nio 2 in 2 out.

I know there is audio capture and various recording software but it would be great to just get the audio source straight in to Live for quicker and easier recording.

Any help would be much appreciated.

1st choice, audio interface with audio loop back. The reason you aren't able to do it now is because you computer's audio is only going out and not into anything. With loopback you send the audio going out back into the interface and then from there you can route it to an input from Live.

I sometimes use soundflower for this. I heard of others using Virtual cable. You route your computers output to eg soundflower, then live's input to soundflower then live's out to your soundcard.

As my interface doesn't have loopback I use two interfaces and I find that to be the most stable.

I am unable to install this on Big Sur. :shrug:

For routing audio on your Mac, you might want to try this one:

I use it instead of Soundflower on Catalina and so far it just works. Without any problem. According to the website it is also compatible with Big Sur.
