MacBook Pro 2018 Microphone Inputs only showing as 1 input, not 2 like usual? Is this normal?

I've been having issues with SMC (had to reset it 3 times now) with my internal outputs / inputs totally disappearing randomly.

Works fine with an audio interface but...

On my 2018 MBP, Live emits all sorts of terrible noises when I'm away from my audio interface and just use the laptop speakers. Maybe Live has some problems with running without an audio interface on this particular model and OS. Weird.

that is normal. it's a single channel microphone.

i haven't experienced that (except when i've had feedback from the speakers to the mic input, which is to be expected)...

It definitely wasn't feedback. Had every channel on "no input." It was eerily similar to the sound that used to come out of FL Studio back in 2004, when I would stop recording audio it would do it- I can't describe it.
