Slice to midi with a single Simpler?

I'm wondering if I am missing something obvious. Most of the time I slice a loop to midi, I want (to start with, anyway) a single Simper. I've tried making a slicing preset that does this, but I've not been able to work it out.
My current workflow for this is to load a loop into a Simpler in slice mode - slice to midi track - which creates a whole new track/drum-rack with each slice in its own Simpler and a midi clip. I then need to drag the midi clip from this new track back to my original single simpler track, then delete this newly created track. Which seems like too many steps.

All you need to do is drop the sample in simpler in slice mode

That slices, but it does not create the midi clip.

You can do it with sampler, create a default sampler, rename it to e.g. single sampler, save it in the default slicing preset list. Rightclick on your lopp/sample, create slice to midi and choose in the drop down menue your single sampler preset.
With simpler it doesn't work, but you can skip your first step: loading a loop into simpler is not necessary. Rightclick on your loop/sample and create slice to midi.

Ok I get yah, sorry did not realise you wanted the clip to. Yeah you would need to do it with sampler

Thanks for the replies. I guess my ultimate solution is to wait until Sampler gets all of the slicing and warping that simpler has. *fingers crossed*

or wait until simpler can be used as a slicer default/preset
which I would think would come sooner.
