migrating User Library to new Mac

Can anyone help me figure out how to get the contents of my old mac's user
library over to the new one without messing anything up?

Copy > Paste ?
I'm not a Mac user but have migrated my Live library over about 10 different systems, drives and rebuilds over the years and quite simply I install Live from scratch and set where I want my library etc, then copy the old library location (and even settings if I want it quickly setup) then just paste it over the existing library (well, delete the library files and copy in place).
Wouldn't think it's much different for Mac
