So I know live looping is doable with a footswitch through a midi keyboard/pad etc, was wondering if anyone knows if its possible through an audio interface? I'd be plugging my footswitch into a 1/4 inch jack in my alesis multimix then mapping the footswitch to the loop record button hopefully. Any suggestions?

Unless your audio interface has an input specifically for a footswitch (unlikely) then no.

You may be asking because your footswitch has a plug that appears to also fit in one of the holes in your audio interface? A good life lesson is just because something physically fits in a hole, doesn't mean you should stick it in there.

You need a controller that has a designed input to work with a switch. Your mixer has audio inputs for 6.5mm TRS plugs whereas your MIDI keyboard has switch inputs for a 6.5mm TS plug. Same plug, different signals/devices.

Dedicated MIDI/USB foot switches can be found pretty cheap. And I think even the ultra inexpensive gamer ones can be mapped easily enough.

So Ive got an Acorn FP-1 with a 1/4 inch jack output. How would I connect and map this??

Well, short of the actual keyboard with the 1/4" jack for it, you can get a dedicated converter box. Those cost around $125 when I do a quick search though, so a new pedal is the less expensive option. Or if you don't already have a decent MIDI keyboard, or don't mind grabbing a second one (or other controller) they cost less than the dedicated converter also.
