I really want the manual, so I can read it at my mindless job and spare the forum a whole slew of redundant questions. However, I really want to own live 5 as soon as I can! Can or will I be given a serial# to download the software and unlock it once I purchase the boxed upgrade?

The price jump is remarkable, between the two versions, but I would prefer to not partake in the murder of so many trees for such an aesthetic misfortune as a printed PDF file. My "Live-Experience" must be a Gesumtkunstwerk. I refuse to use your software without first donning a Bauhaus t-shirt and pouring myself a glass of Trockenbeerenauslese :D

OT: Have you guys ever considered making a Live skin that was compatable with 3D (red-blue lense) glasses? Whoooooooaaa... That would be sooo coool...

i'm definately getting the boxed version this time. the pdf manual sucks bigtime. if it came to the choice id rather wait and get the hardcopy everytime.

Just a FYI: You can print the .pdf pretty easily.

I googled up print shops closest to my home and emailed the .pdf to three of them asking for time frame and cost estimates. Three hours later and only seven blocks away I picked up my manual, printed in one color, on both page sides and bound in a clear vinyl cover for $18US.

The internet is a wonderful thing.

If?
Think about it... within hours of the release you could be holding a hardcopy. Or you could just wait for the shipper. :)

Personally, as long as I've got Live booted up, I don't mind using the .pdf - contextual hypertext, faster Finds and alla that.

perhaps you are a more rational mind than myself. Luckily there is room in electronic music for all types! :D

The day I hold my new manual, there will be a physical breach as continuity is breached between the new "prism-esque" graphic and the miraculous visions collecting like scattered waves interacting in space, in my mind.

My heart will pump with excitement as the blood flowing through my veins serves as a metaphor for the adrenalized, pseudo-conscious, process of branching potential projects as they are prioritized.

It will haunt me like a humungulous, cawing like a Poe crow, suggesting new applications to me while I sleep.

I love my manuals. Sometimes I even read them.

Yeah, I ordered the boxed version and emailed the Ableton team for a serial which they sent on the next working day.
