extremely slow rendering?

I have done lots of rendering in the past, and so have an idea of how long it takes.

Right now, I'm rendering individual tracks of a 26 track piece to mono so that they can be imported into protools. The piece is 5 minutes long. Each mono track is taking about 10 minutes to render. They alll seem to get stuck at 37% for about half of the rendering time.

In the same piece last night I tried to consolidate one of the tracks to see if that would be faster than rendering the whole thing. Live took 45 minutes to consolidate a 5 minute audio file!!? I did try to cancel it about 15 minutes in, but nothing happened...just spinning beach ball.

This doesn't seem normal. Anyone have any ideas on what Live is choking on?

More info to add:

-The piece plays back fine, not very CPU intensive. No plugins. 26 tracks of audio (made up of very small snippets).

-While rendering my activity monitor says LIVE is using 96 percent of my CPU and 308MB RAM. Stays pegged for the entire process.

rendering hell...help

Does anyone have an answer for me here?

To render the full mix I ended up re-recording the mixdown into another audio program. Then, to export individual mono tracks for my producer I ended up methodically DELETING every track except the one I was rendering. Then, every track rendered quickly.

Um...NOT ideal.

hi,
I had the same problem with live 4.
looks like it had to do something with the automation.
I finally found out the clip in the arrangement which forces live to be very slow: i just selected a part of the track and consolidated it, because consolidating was also slow, if rendering was very slow.
I also contacted support for this case.
if it is working in live 5 its ok for me, but if not, we should try to find the problem.
