How to send one MIDI-track to multiple audio-tracks?

Hey there,

I want to use Volume Shaper 5 to sidechain my instruments and audio-clips via MIDI-trigger.
Instead of grouping them, and just ducking them all by one plugin-instance, I want to sidechain each element differently (because of the multiband function).
However, Ableton seems to only allow one MIDI-track to route to one specific audio-track.

Is there any way of routing MIDI to multiple !AUDIO!-tracks?

Thanks :)

Hi Yonnass97,

I ran into your post last night trying to figure this out for myself. I found a solution if you are still looking for one. (Note: I have a PC, though I imagine the same principles apply to Mac.)

You will need two things:
- Volume Shaper 6 (it didn't work for me using VS 5)
- A virtual MIDI cable (I use LoopMIDI, Mac has the IAC built in)

Instructions
- Install LoopMIDI (if needed)
- Create a new port (I just use the default name: "LoopMIDI Port")
- Startup Ableton, open the preferences window, then go to the MIDI options tab
- In the "MIDI Ports" section of these options, enable Track and Sync for Input/Output of "LoopMIDI Port"
- Create a MIDI track that you will use to trigger sidechain and add some notes
- In the "MIDI From" options of your midi track, choose "No Input"
- In the "MIDI To" options of your midi track, choose "loopMIDI Port" Ch.10
- Add VolumeShaper 6 to the track you want to sidechain
- Open VolumeShaper and choose "On (1-Shot)" in your MIDI Trigger options
- Click on the cog wheel in the MIDI trigger options box to open the MIDI Setup for VolumeShaper
- In this window, choose "loopMIDI Port" and Ch.10

Now copy and paste the living daylights out of that VolumeShaper instance. :-)

(Note: The port name "LoopMIDI Port" and using Ch.10 were for example only. Feel free to name the port/choose a MIDI channel as you see fit.)

Hello,

I've been having the same issue as Yonnass97 and tried this method.

Everything seemed to be working up until the last step: When I choose "LoopMIDI Port" in the midi settings, it says "We're sorry, but the MIDI port cannot be opened. Please choose another MIDI port".

I'm using Ableton Live Suite 11 on Windows 10 and Shaperbox 2 with VolumeShaper v2.3.3

Thanks in advance

Edit:
Just found another solution using purely stock Ableton here (at the bottom of the page): https://www.cableguys.com/midi-trigger- ... -live.html
