Hi guys!

I am trying to work on my chops by re-creating certain loops, how would u guys go about recreating this complex percussion loop? and how do you think the original producer (Maxmartin) did it?

REF TRACK: https://soundcloud.com/musicsnobster/glass-perc. (skip to 2:24)

gracias!

I would:

1. Find relavent samples ( in this case latin percussion).
2. Learn each individual sound's part and play along with it.
3. Record/sequence each sound.
4. One could also convert the audio to midi and work from there.

For this loop I'm pretty sure there is a short feedback, 8th note delay in the fx cain. There is also a nice (what sounds like) side chained/ pumping reverb.

The original could just be a sample pack loop or MM drawing on he's vast knowledge of genre's, style and appropriate instrumentation.
Or one can always find a track, say in this case, a latin tune with a certain perc part that you like and literally copy it without actually sampling it.
