so, I've got a drum rack set up FULL of sounds...

is there any switch, button, or setting anywhere that will enable me to select any of those specific sounds individually to play on a keyboard?

or if I want to play melodies with that sound, MUST they be on their own track JUST in a Simpler?

It would need to be on it's own track, outside of a drum rack. By using a drum rack, you're only triggering the sound with a specific MIDI note, so playing melodies with that single sound won't be possible. You could get creative with something like automating the pitch device, but that's a lot of work for something that's achieved much more easily by having a separate track.
