Controlling Loop length/pos needs hirez MIDI?

Hey guys,

just checking out this public beta of LIVE 5, very excited about the new features, like the ARPEGIATOR (yes!)

I was also very excited about the ability to control clip loop lenght and position on the FLY with MIDI, and was eager to try it.

To my surprise, it behaved in a very odd way...

For information, my system is the following:

iBook G3 @ 700Mhz, 384MB of RAM, running OS 10.3.9
Edirol PCR-30 MIDI controller

Well, I assigned the LENGTH and POSiTION controls to two sliders in my keyboard, CCs 80 and 81.

Every time I move them the markers move across BARS and not across beats or sixteenths as I would expect it to change, since I need a more precise loop control.

Do I need high resolution MIDI to use this teh way I want? I tried assigning to the mod and pitchbend wheel, with the same results. Also tried with the pots.

Reading in the manual that Live might take CC controllers higher than 60 something as keys, I remapped two pots so they were CCs 10 and 11, to no avail. Same results.

So is this some sort of bug, some feature request or simply it needs highrez MIDI to work the way I want to? Maybe it would be good to assign a controller for EACH bar/beat/sixteenth box instead of a global one.

Sorry if I posted this in the wrong forun, and sorry for not using one of those bracketed three word things in teh subject, I couldn't find what they were for ;p

Keep up the great work and thank you very much.

I'm still trying to figure it out, changing the Quantization is no help, I still can't do it with the MIDI, I'm using Live 6.2 now.

Would be good to map different MIDI controllers for each one of the boxes...
