Long form course - Creative Sampling and Sound Design

Post by Lo-Fi Massahkah » Wed Feb 20, 2019 6:54 pm

Hey there...

It's been a while since I made myself seen on this board. But it's been quite important to me getting to know Live back on version three and four. Yup - I'm an old geezer.

Anyway - I like electronic music and video. And make tutorial type stuff on YouTube and other platforms. I also teach future teachers on Malmö University... I like teaching and design for learning. This is a serious stab at approaching a course on sampling and sound design within Live.
The course is structured around three cases or different types of workflow. Making an ambient drone using nothing but a laptop and a simple headset. Sculpting a percussive rhythm using a smart phone and the Simpler instrument. And finally designing a layered pitched sound for melody or chords using a Zoom H6 and the Sampler instrument. The idea is to use different functions within Live to edit and sculpt sounds to make a unique and personal sonic finger print.

The course and its support material is made in Live 9.7 to have compatibility a few decremental versions back in time. Although Live has evolved and is heading into version 10.1 - the concepts within this course are similar across several versions. You’ll feel right at home no matter what version you are using.
There's a YT-video offering a parts of the full experience. https://youtu.be/qHK1Gr5HdrQ

Hope there's something of use to you!
