Which global quantization do you use for DJing?

Post by daisy » Sat Jul 16, 2005 4:37 pm

Hey-
I've searched the forums for this but it doesn't seem like anyone else has this issue (which seems like it would be obvious)

Anyway I'm new to DJing with Live (have mainly been using it for composing & arranging), so I'm having a hard time throwing in clips on beat. When I set the global quantize to "None", I can sometimes get it on, but I heard that most people use the "1 Bar" mode.. But when I set it to that, it never fires the clip on the downbeat. Even if I try to time it right, the clip comes in all #$*# ed up. Grr.

Any advice? Thanks.. :(

If your audio tracks are set to 4/4, try setting the global quantize to 4 bars. Watch the flashing play lights to show it's waiting for the next time to drop in the new track, and check it matches the beats. If it doesn't then you have probably got one of your tracks warped wrong so it starts in the middle of the 4/4, rather than on the button.
