Step automation delay

Hi. I can’t use step automation properly for envelope settings and whatnot – if the midi note starts at that step, the automation is always slewed, i.e. there’s a slight delay in automation in comparison to the note and it glides to the value.

Same with delay compensation on and off.

Very audible with any timbral modulation. E.g. modulating cutoff always sounds like it's modulated by an envelope with attack phase.

Any fixes? Apart from automating the preceding step.

Just post the question in one thread, no need to cross post.

If you have a step that changes values significantly in the beginning, then it is audible as a value jump, for obvious reasons.

It HAS to be audible.

If you want it to start at value X, then start the automation with value X, not a step that jumps from Y to X.

Simply delete the point set at the value you don't want, so it doesn't start with a sudden change.

The problem is that the change is not sudden enough. It doesn't jump, it glides.

That's the instrument or FX, not LIve. Live just sends the raw numbers to the instruments and FX.

Many instruments and FX smooth the automation (and also MIDI CC) internally. That's because it can cause "clicks" otherwise.
