Parallel Effects Rack vs Return Channels

Post by hipdeejay » Fri Mar 08, 2019 1:26 am

I seen a couple youtube tutorials where they use reverbs & delays on an Effects Rack in a Parallel chain which I never thought about doing before. This makes me wonder what is the difference of using parallel reverb FX Chains directly on the channel vs sending that channel to a return channel with reverb on it?

Are there any advantages / disadvantages to doing it this way vs just using Return Channels?

If it is an effect you plan to share with other channels, then you’d probably want to use a Return. The nice thing about using Parallel however is that rendering just that channel is a lot simpler.
