Disable Track Delete

Anyone have any ideas how this might be achieved. Whilst it's happened a few times in rehearsal and in live Facebook feeds, on the weekend for the 1st time it happened in the middle of my friggin live set..... I deleted one of my main Midi tracks, one that I do 50% of my live keyboard playing with, and one that houses a set of 8 different plugins (selected for each track depending on what lines I play for that track).

I must have hit delete and then track, rather than Stop Clip and track...and bang....GONE!

Problem was I only realised at the start of the next track (I'm playing techno, so everything is crossfaded)...too many steps to undo.

Any bright ideas???

Nope, don’t think you can but can’t you just undo?

Yo ucan press undo, provided you realise it as it happens. IN the middle of a live set, unless you are actively using that instrument at the time, you could be way down the track (sic)....as I was. I tried a few (many) undos, but it was taking me into crazy land with all sorts of parameter change sbeing undone!

Probably best to just be mindful of where you mash the buttons. That, or get a knife and cut the button out like removing the windows key from a keyboard.

ha. ha!!! be mindful and playing live techno... in the same sentence!!!!

Yeah, I have thought of that....just avoid the delete button!! but there are so many times I need it!!!!

You could use M4L to disable the delete button... but as you said you need it sometimes so I guess the best thing to do is to learn how to no press it accidentally, just you'd do on any instrument actually

@jur agreed... the tricky thing is working out exactly what I have done when I do delete the track....to make sure I avoid that. Or probably working out all those occasions I do need to press delete, and make those even more conscious decisions.

...actually you have me thinking now with your reference ab

That's actually not such a bad idea....I could then have a m4l device that would require, reenabling the delete consciously when I needed to use it (and disabling immediately afterwards.

A bit clunky, but given the huge impact of deleting a track mid-live set...something I could live with. Can you point me to any resources where I could look into the disable delete button m4l idea.

Thx for the suggestion

The perfect things already exists here:

And it has an override factility to reenable the delete when I need it!

I can't seem to get that M4L device to work in Live 11. Do you still use it, or happen to have found a workaround? Thanks
