I am looking for the cheapest pre-listening device for a G5. I do not need a M-Audio 410 because I am very new to live. I just want something simple that works. Anybody have a good idea?

i use a maya 44 usb device that works ok under core audio/macosx that cost £100, but there is a related device that is £37 here:

that might do the trick.

Now I thought I read some where on this forum that Live can only support one sound card. Is this true? Or could I buy this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6829102174
and be able to prelisten with the ecternal and out with the internal?

Thanks for any help!

If you use asio4all as a wrapper for all the devices. Won't they show up as one device with multiple in/outputs to live? Read about this somewhere.

Can't you use the Mac's onboard audio for pre-listening and your external sound card for Live's output?

I thought this was what the Aggregate Device Editor in Tiger was for.

Haven't used it myself, as I don't use pre-listen.

well if you're on macosx tiger then you could use an imic (or roland similar) and the internal card as an aggregate device. i think asio4all can do this too.

3 outputs for 100$

You could also get an imic. But thats like getting a dispossable camera.
I've had 2 imics. They work for year and then crap out on you. (me)
