Ableton 10.1 upgrade - audio issues

Hi all, new to the forum!
I've been using Ableton 10 since it came out to do live performances and visuals using the Zwobot VJ plugin. I never had any problems with crackles, CPU overload or anything of the sort. I updated to 10.1, and using exactly the same session files, they now have sound dropouts, crackles and all lag. The Zwobot program itself was always a bit dicey, but it would never affect the audio. I've tried deleting the config files and it hasn't helped. It doesn't matter whether I use ASIO4ALL or my interface driver. Interestingly, the CPU meter only goes up to 60% when this seems to start happening. Previously, it would happily go up to 100% with no problems. It's very frustrating - I've tried rebuilding the Zwobot track from scratch, deleting effects, folding and freezing tracks but nothing seems to be working. I have a gig coming up in two weeks, and I'm getting stressed as I'm running out of time to practice.
Any help greatly appreciated!
