I recorded a session at a gig but failed to save before recording the second set. D'oh!
Is there a way to retrieve the original file I recorded over?

Using Mac Book Pro )S 10.12.6, Ableton 9.7.7

You might be lucky.

Go to the Project in your Live browser
open up the Folder so you can see /Backup and /Samples,
Open Samples/Recorded

if it's available it will be there

Thanks. Sorry to be dense, but I can't seem to find /Backup and /Samples.
Which folder am I opening for that?

Those are just folders I've created in Places.

It's where I save my songs.

Find where you songs are saved. For me that's in these folders. Open your folder where you save songs in the live browser and look for the Samples folder in the project which you recorded the audio.

I guess I'm not nearly well-enough organized. I never actually created a folder in which saved files could be found.
I've snooped around all over and still can't find a record of previous sets.
Any idea where I should be looking?

Your set is in a folder, right?
In this folder there's a few other folders. That's in one of them, and probably the one called "recorded".

I've looked all over. The "Live Recordings" file in Ableton shows only recordings up to May 22.

The project I'm working on was June 16.

I am able to access the second recording from that date and the remainder of the first set which was recorded over.

I've done nothing since, so I want to believe the set I recorded over is still in there somewhere,
but I'm not advanced enough to know where (in Ableton or on my desktop) to find it.
