Exporting Individual Tracks with Master FX Takes Too Long!

Post by alejoreyes01 » Fri Jun 28, 2019 6:35 pm

Hey Guys,

I make music for a living which means that I'm always exporting individual track stems either to collaborate with other people or to send out for mixing. I was very excited about the feature in 10.1 that let's you export each track with whatever effects you had on the return tracks and master but what they didn't mention is that this process takes an extremely long time. Before I was exporting 70 individual tracks of audio and midi combined in about 10MIN tops and now with the new feature those same 70 tracks take over an hour to be exported.

I'm using a 2018 macbook pro, High Sierra, 16GB Ram, 3.1GHz Intel Core i7. I feel like it shouldn't be taking this long to do something like this, in Logic X this same process takes 10min. Am I doing something wrong? Is there something I'm not aware of?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi!

Dont know if anything similar, but I am experiencing long rendering time during the last couple of weeks. (I use Ableton every day).
Seems to be related to Arturia V-coll instruments, but also Ozone plugins on the master track slows rendering down considerable.
No solution though...

Hi, I'm experiencing the same issue, haven't found any other posts about this yet... Did something change for you in the meanwhile?

there's no workaround. it's probably the biggest issue I read about from people that crank out tunes (Pros I guess) that don't have any real gripes with Live's workflow.

4h to export stems

Post by Splines » Wed Dec 29, 2021 2:07 pm

One year later, I'm still experiencing the same problem. It took me 4h to export 106 individual stems for a song 4 minutes long (32 bit, 48000 Hz). The resulting files are 8.5 GB big in total (each of them 82.1 MB), can't explain why these files are so huge.

Specs:
Ableton Live 11 Suite (11.0.12 Build: 2021-11-04 b232c5df34)
CPU: i7-6700 @ 3.40 GHz
RAM: 16 GB
Using an SSD

That's perfectly expected for a 4mn 32bit/48k .wav

I experience this as well, Ableton Live is very slow in exporting, because it utilizes only one core for this, so all the holy multi thread power of modern systems is pretty much useless for exporting.

I used Logic Pro 9 back in the day and it cranked up all cores for exporting if I remember correctly which was very fast.
