Fixed in beta 10.1.25b1
"Fixed hanging that could occur when dragging a compressed sample into Live, under certain circumstances (macOS only)."
I can verify this.
One person reported this problem also occurred with WAV files, so that may not be fixed. I've only experienced this issue with compressed audio files.

Please let us know if L10.1.25 fixed this.

I've got a similar problem I think.
Essentially when I release the mouse button after doing a drag (to resize a clip for example) Ableton doesn't recognise this, and continues to drage the clip...
It's annoying when editing (fast)
it's like there is a lag between what I'm doing with the mouse and what ableton recognises
Live 11 : OSX Mojave

Do you use M4L device(s) in your set?

no, i just use Live Suite straight out of the box (so to speak)
