Question for the community: how many return tracks do you typically have in your projects?

Hey everyone,

I'm designing a DIY control surface for Ableton Live, and I would like to include LEDs that indicate which send knob is being modulated via an encoder. I need to determine how many LED indicators I should include in the controller, so I'm surveying the Ableton Live community.

How many return tracks do you typically have in your projects?
What is the maximum number of return tracks you've ever used?

As many as needed but generally about 4-8

None usually, I typically like to treat my tracks on a case by case basis and I have enough CPU power for my song to do it. Occasionally I'll use a global reverb send, but that's pretty rare these days.

Easy job for you because you can only have 12 max. I generally use between 5-7.

Mostly 3 to 4 returntracks...... at most!

OK. Thank you for the feedback everyone! Knowing that there can be a maximum of 12 return tracks is very useful.
