Strange Issue: Ableton wipes all global settings

Hi Team,

I am encountering a strange issue and I'm posting on here to see if anyone has perhaps experienced this as well.

I'm on a Mid 2017 21.5-inch iMac / i5 / 8GB / 1TB HDD (not exactly a production workhorse, I know)

I've been an Ableton user for 10 years, and I've had this issue pop up twice in the last month and I have never seen this happen before.
Basically, when I've launched Ableton, it appears to have wiped all my settings. All my Places/Plugins/Default Project/Audio Routing/MIDI/Returns have reverted to default. It as if I had reinstalled Ableton completely (I'm on Live Suite 10.1.7)

My feeling is that this may be a memory issue, when I check Activity Monitor; Ableton is using just under 4GB. I've just encountered a new prompt after re-scanning my plugins for the second time. It said one of my trial plugins had a fatal error scanning. My next step is to uninstall whatever instance is left of that trial plugin but I'm reaching out to the community to see if someone has encountered this problem.

All my projects load fine so not all is lost, but this error has happened twice now; it's a real time waster.

Looking forward to upgrading this iMac in the near future and may end up putting this issue in the past but figured an experience like this should be documented nonetheless.

All the best!

The only suggestion I have at the moment is to run disk utility on the relevant drive(s) and see if it reports any errors.
