Can I Make One Track Always Armed, Others Armed Exclusive?

Hi folks,
I want to be able to have one track stay armed, not being affected by whether I choose to arm other tracks. But I only want that behavior for that one track; as for any others, I want their arming status to be mutually exclusive- i.e., only one of them to be armed at any time, with arming of one track cancelling the arming of any others.
Can I do this in Ableton?

Set your “always armed track” to “monitor in”.

Thanks for the suggestion. It works great while playing, but not when recording. Then only the armed tracks are recorded.

I don't think there's a way to do that automatically. However, you can have the track stay armed when Exclusive is enabled in preferences and arm/de-arm other tracks by holding down the CTRL key.

M4L is also an option here.

I’ve made a M4L device that does this.

Hi,
I've had the same problem and found a workaround that doesn't involve M4L (Lite user here):
1 make sure "Arm" is activated under "Exclusive" in the "Record Warp Launch" pane in the Preferences window - this way, you can arm the track you want to play and avoid triggering any other tracks
2 on the track you want to always receive the MIDI notes you play no matter which other tracks are armed, set "Monitor" to "Auto" to make sure it plays back the clips you loaded onto it
3 create a new MIDI track, set "Monitor" to "In" to make sure it'll always receive the MIDI notes you play no matter which other tracks you arm
4 on that same track, under "MIDI To" select that first track referred to in point 2
5 optionally, select which MIDI channel you want your messages to be sent on in the drop-down menu just below "MIDI To"

Hey Chapelier Fou,
your device is Local Exclusive Arm 1.0, right?
https://maxforlive.com/library/device/6 ... lusive-arm
It doesn't work with my Ableton 11, unfortunately...
I would like to be able to record my audio track that is on "monitor in", too.
But I need to keep my "exclusive arm" function on, so that other tracks are automatically disabled when I use my footswitch.
So keeping a lock on specific tracks would be the fantastic.
Has anyone else got other suggestions on how to solve my problem?

Hey, did you download it very recently ? I happened to fix it like 2 days ago (I must have been drunk, it was simply not working). Just checked, it seems to work properly now.
