Why not just hope for new features in 10? Costs us less haha

What if 11 doesn’t have what you’re expecting??

I am hoping for a total revamp of the audio control system. All the modern daws handle latency like they know what they are doing. Ableton well it's the worst out of all the DAW's I've tried lately. There's so much latency that you can't use it. I found a way to externally route out the instruments when I need to play live and set it back to master when I'm ready to mix. It's a real pain. I tried creating a return in the master and route all the tracks out to a virtual channel with my Apollo8 but that is so... not a good thing. There's a lot of extra noise created by the plugins and the external audio effect doesn't do a good job with gain levels because it depends on the dry/wet to be balanced... just yuck. I have been messing around with Studio One and Logic and dang they figured it out. I can play live in both without screwing around with the buffer which doesn't work for me by the way. Any who... I'm really hoping they are listening and fix the things that make it a recording device.

I assume the long delay between Ableton 9.5 and 10 was because there was a lot of recoding going on behind the scenes.

I'd be suprised if we didn't see 10.5 this year, sadly it doesn't look like it will be announced at Loop this weekend.

Also woudn't mind if they stayed at 10 for a long time an slowly go to 10.2 .3. .4 etc, kinda like Logic is doing it. 10 is a nice number :)

Has anyone on here ever bought Ableton just before a new version was released? Was there a free upgrade included? Just wondering if I picked a version now during the sale and a new version gets released, so I get the new one automatically?

There's usually a couple week grace period where you can get a new update if you just bought the previous version. It's not a hard and fast rule, but Ableton are usually understanding about these things.

Probably better to start a new thread about your issue instead of hijacking someone else's

I bought Live 9 In 2015!
This is not even 5 years ago!!!! Live 9 is NOT available under OSX 10-13 (catalina). But i NEED catlalina for other stuff (and i do not want to "rollback").

I guess 3-4 years is ok for a major update. Its also ok to bring a xtra-cots-update per echa half-vear...
(But its not ok, that i cant use an ITEM (equal if soft/hard) for less than 5 years (without a REAL complete gamechanger)! OSX from 109-1013 WAS NOT a game changer.... SO i expect, that i can use Live 9 for at least 5 years... But i CANT!!!!!!!
LIVE #10 has some nice features, but NOT enough for me, to upgrade by MUST (course if "new"(old) OSX, and Live 9 will not run anymore)!
There are APPS i would pay for "between-updates" and there are apps, i can wait for really USEFULL new feautures. Just new devices and little, little small workflow-imps are not my kind of "WORTH" to update. BIG, BIGGER "workflow imps" would BE a big trigger for me, to update... but it was NOT far! Just "standards" like double-click to default.... sometimes its a shame how "workflow-lame" LIVE is. Its like an APP from 1875.... (where is the one-click-bounce, wehre is the REAL preset/Sample-step, where is the SMART "copy/paste" (=duplicate/delete" with SOME, but not all...parametrs/devices....)

However, its ok, that #10 not offers this (maybe #11 will do????... or offer other GUI-speed-up-stuff....) .... its all ok!
BUT!!!! its absolutlutly not ok, that, i am, an OWNER of Live 9 (bougt 4 years old) cannot use it anymore!!!!

THIS IS ABSOLUTLEY NOT OK! I expect for > 100 Bucks-SW a "Use-Time" for at least 5 years!!!! At Least!!!!!!!! If "technically support" or REALLY DEVOLPING brings an USABLE really GAMECHANGER (like WLAN to ISDN....) of course, this periode, should be shorter, cause not to waste too much time to an old, dying.... technique.
But there is no real ADVANTAGES from OSX 109-1013... its the same cosmetic.update the years before. In SUCH NORMALLLLLLLLLLLL CASES, i except, that my "old" stuff works et less 5 years! Otherwise YOU!!! to care for a replace for ME (as the second "party of a contract").
Give me(and lot of other Live 9-owner) Live 10 for FREE (as a "KULANZ" upgrade) and its done. Please be so fair! Otherwise....

Maybe if you don’t like to be forced to keep updating everything, don’t use Mac. On Windows I can still run Live 8 on latest versions. Could probably still run live 1.0. Cost of choosing Mac is they don’t care about maintaining compatibility with stuff in the past. You don’t have to upgrade but if you choose to you need to understand you may also have to upgrade everything else too.

I think some people talk about it but are summarily dispatched shortly afterward. Meaning killed. Literally made to look like an accident. Like a spontaneously combusting drummer.
