Hi all,

So I FINALLY got an SSD drive installed in my old Mac. Pretty old, in fact. 2007!

Until now I've had all my Live Packs, as well as memory clogging samples form Native Instruments, on an external hard drive. That served me well with my old drive, to not slow things down too much. But now I'm wondering if I should have all audio files on the new internal drive.

Everything it still TONS faster than before, even using the external, but I was just wondering if there would be a noticeable difference if I load the SSD with all the audio.

Still on Live 9 32bit here.

Wanted to get some feedback before I proceed.

Hey mate. Yeah, everything will be faster, but you might not notice so much on the audio versus the crazy big libraries.

Well, unless your audio files are large. Might need a little more info there.

It simply comes down to convenience and how fast you want to load data. If you have less ram and large samples then it may be beneficial to stream them from SSD. I have 4 SSD drives for VST content and libraries alone but I still store my Ableton library and my personal sample libraries on HDD because they are quite huge collections and don't have large amounts of data that I need to load so make little difference being on SSD.

Yeah they're pretty large samples for my Kontakt Library (Native Instruments) and Packs from Ableton Live. All together around 140GBs.

Think I'm gonna transfer them over to my SSD and see how it goes. I still will have almost 100GB's free on my internal.

I have two M2 SSD's in my music PC, one for OS and DAW's - the other for songs, samples etc. - works like a charm!!!!!

Sounds like the best option!

Only have one SSD now. I'll be interested to see if there's any difference when I start calling up samples from there instead of my external.

It will go faster, that's for shure!!!!!
