Collect all and save with sample based VSTs

Hi I hope everyone’s safe and well.
Been making music on and off with Ableton for a long while now but pretty rubbish at the tech side, so sorry if this is a stupid question or in the wrong section. Been trying to find an answer to this but have struggled.
I’ve got Live 9 but will be getting 10 and a new MacBook Pro soon.
I often collect all and save when working on a song but only really know it works in relation to saving the audio clips/recordings I use in a song.
I’m looking at getting some more VSTs like Komplete which have massive sound, I believe sample, libraries.
Say if I have the Komplete library an external hardrive and collect all and save in Ableton, would it save the sound I’m using so I can play it live with a midi keyboard without needing the external hardrive?
Or would it still need access to the sound library for me to play live?
I was thinking collect all and save may only work on parts that I already recorded/drawn in in Ableton?
Many thanks for your help.
