Best way to map akai MPK49 to live

Hi guys, I've just got a used aka mpk49 controller.
My main question is what do you think is the best way to map live scenes and trigger it.
I was thinking mapping the drums pads, from 1 to 12... I did a little test, clicking midi, and works from 1-12 but it does not trigger, it moves right to left but i want to trigger it without using the mouse, not sure if I make sense.
If anyone could tip me your midi mapping set ups that would be great.
