Hi all, first of all i've sent a support request to softube for this problem, its taken over three weeks and yet no response, so i thought i might pick a few people brains.

All my 35 plugins of softube keep crashing ableton, this is a new occurrence. I think it might be a continuation of problems with the softube installer they introduced early in the year or, maybe the latest ableton build?. Everything is latest version, including ableton, max, windows 10, softube installer, ilock ect ect. I've done the routines of uninstalling ...reinstalling including ableton ect ect to no prevail. Yes i have installed all plugins manually as well. Like i said i've never really had an issue with softube, and i'm not crying about how bad they are,although im yet to get a response from their support team, i'm sure their busy.

I guess is anyone one else experiencing issues with softube. The products range from modular, monument, ect to tube tec, harmonic distortion and tape ect. I dont think its my computer as every other plugin, program is working fine no hitches, even with the updating of windows 10 a week or two ago. I dont think its ableton 10.1.7 which i updated a couple of weeks ago.

Just an annoying issue i guess, any help would be wonderful!

Are they crashing Live upon while loading?

My softube plugins running ok within Ableton, running latest softube versions?

have you tried updating your graphic card drivers?

it may not be an ableton issue. probably openGL rendering related. I had exact same issue and softtube support was totally MIA / unhelpful; i updated my nvidia drivers and softube has been working solid since.

if updating your gl drivers doesn't work, you might try installing reaper and then seeing if you still have the same issue. if you have the latest gfx drivers, and it loads in reaper, but not ableton, then at least you can get to the sofftube config and inactivate GL, then see if it works.

softtube really should have a support article on this / options from inside softtube installer app.

I have same problem with the time and tone bundle from softube, it doesn't crash loading Ableton but if I use the saturation knob Ableton will freeze or crash. I have them installed in pro tools first and used them in cakewalk without any issues. I downloaded the individual installers as softube central would download them and get stuck installing them but this hasn't made any difference. Customer support is non excistant, I raised this issue Nov last year but have not received any reply. I am glad I didn't pay any money for them as they came with my Focusrite interface.

Time & tone bundle working ok here, maybe try updating the softube stuff, as there was an update recently, plus try your graphics drivers, as a lot of Sotfube stuff uses OpenGL.

After reinstall my maschine after Blue Screens.
I (re)installed all Software in newest version had face now the same problem.
Load and start VST Softube Modular or Heartbeat (which i own) let ableton crashes...

By the Way trying VST3 Plugins to and the crashes are the same.
Could really be a playing together of some components then?

Then its not the plugins they all work here, have you tried updating graphics card drivers?

As i sayed Reinstall the maschine complete from scratch and alle Drivers are new as hell...

Reinstalling from scratch doesn't always give you the correct graphics card driver for your card and as your getting blue screens then there is something else going on, possible hardware failing.

really that is what you stand on?
Reinstall was because off a wrong driver in windows10.
I install the hole maschine and windows10 from scratch. Means no old stuff.
Now the OS problem ist solve.

GraKa driver:
I got a RTX 2060 and GeForce Driver 456.71 from 07.10.2020...
There is no newer driver...

I guess its a dismiss from softube to use old or no compatible thinks from somethink, so ...

Do it yourself, as you seem to know better!

yah, maybe yes, because U didnt understand...
Its funny because all other VST has no problems and on fresh system i didnt expect such problems.
But in the end is more a softube problem and not from ableton.

Hello people,
I was having crashes immidietly after starting any softube plugin.
My solution was to delet following file:
Windows/USER/You/AppData/Roaming/Softube/Softube Preset Collection Settings
Dont worry, its a text file and Softube makes new one after you start it next time.
I am so hapy now I had to share this
No more crashes!
