Ressources for the Suite instrument packs (more specifically the guitar & bass pack)

Hi,
I was wondering if you could help me figure out how the stuff from the instrument packs work. I didn't find anything in the manual and the product page is very succint (so is the lesson page in Live), am I missing something?
Basically, I'd like to know how articulation works with the Guitar and Bass pack. I've been using it for a while and there are so many things I don't get (I just found out that a note at max velocity activate guitar slide... why?) For example, there are samples for playing ghost notes, but I've no idea how to access it (is it just the stuff in the effects range below C0?)
While I'm at it, is there any information somewhere regarding how all these packs were made/recorded? I'm interested in info for the whole bundle, but for instance, in the case of the guitar pack, I'd like to know if the guitar samples were recorded from an amp or from a DI.
