Loading 'Collections' has become abysmally slow

Something is really going wrong with my Live 10.1.18 installation on my iMac OSC Catalina.

Note: this was not happening until just the last couple days, and I have not changed anything on my system in that time.

Clicking the name of a Collection makes the computer pause and beachball for a LONG time before the contents of the collection are actually displayed.

To the point that I just can't use Collections anymore, as I don't feel like sitting here for 30+ seconds every time I try to access one of them.

Anybody experienced this before?

I have auto-updates on, so I'm not sure when it last updated / if that had anything to do with this change in behavior.

I don't use Mac, but 10.1.18 update was almost a month ago. only added remote script support for Akai MPK mk3.
