I enjoyed having the auto-gain option in Traktor, is there anything simiar in Live?

thanks for the advice, gave it a try, and IMHO it just doesn't sound as good as just using your ears like when dj'ing with decks. It seemed to make things sound flat
besides, I already use Reaktor on my master to polish/tweak the sound.

CompressorII shouldn't sound as good. Compressing songs (or samples) that have already been mastered is not a good thing.
Might as well airbrush a nice painting, you aren't likely to improve it.
Compressors... "compress" dynamics afterall , which means they make everything sound flatter and more average. For vocals, this can be very very useful, but for a drum track... well, its dynamics that make drums "pop" and "thump", take away the dynamics and a drum track is just mud.
