External midi latency jumping around

Do any of you run hardware and software together? Do you get any latency issues, with timing jumping around during playback?

I have a hybrid system of hardware and Live 10, running on a macbook pro that had the maximum spec when I bought it new 5 years ago. I use a Roland MX-1 as the mixer for my hardware and also as the audio interface into Live 10. I have a midiface 16x16 as the interface for my external hardware. The MX-1 and Midiface are both plugged directly into my computer via usb cables. I don’t run these through hubs, in case the hubs add to the latency.

PROBLEM 1
When I use my hardware inside Live 10 via the external instrument, there is latency between the midi signal and the audio signal, with the audio signal lagging behind Live 10. I find that if I adjust the Track Delay on the external instrument channel in increments of minus 25ms, then I can get it in time – it is currently set at minus 100ms, but has been in time before at minus 25ms – it changes everytime I open the project. Also, I have to go into the Midi preferences and adjust the Midi sync clock delay of the MX-1 mid out port to the same value as the track delay for it to play in time.

However, after a couple of minutes of playing in time, the latency jumps, and has to be adjusted by another increment of +/- 25ms to bring it back into time. This value has to be changed on both the Track Delay and the Midi clock sync delay of the MX-1 midi out port.

PROBLEM 2
When I program my hardware using my external or onboard sequencer, and play the audio through the MX-1, with the MX-1 synced to Live 10, I encounter the same problem, but the midi latency value is higher, ie I have to enter higher values into the Track Delay and Midi sync clock delay of the MX-1 midi out port. The latency changes of it’s own accord, but it jumps more frequently when I run my equipment this way.

I would love to be able to perform my tracks live, but until I can solve this problem there is no way I can do this.

It is all highly frustrating.
