Trouble finding MP3 files in Live 5...

Hi All,

I'm having issues finding all the tracks that are stored on my external Lacie 250gb. I have many thousands of tracks on there but many of them simply don't appear in Live's browser at all or if they do then often the file itself turns out to be empty. I know the tracks are definitely there because I can find them instantly in iTunes and the file path is to the Lacie.

I've used the search facility on the Live browser but still can't find a lot of the tracks. Also, the bowser lists all the tracks by artist not by album name - can I change this to album or song name rather than artist?

Sorry if I'm asking dumb questions here but I'm not the most technical bloke on the planet. And yes, I have read the manual which for this problem at least didn't seem to help.

Thanks in advance for any help offered!!!

Cheers,

Adam

Do the files end in .mp3 or are they Apple itunes format (.mp4, aac...)

As far as I'm aware, Live5 only recognises .mp3

Ok, so now I feel like bit of a fool...

Yeah, seems like a lot (most likely all) of the missing stuff is AAC and Apple Lossless...

Can I easily convert all these over to MP3 so I can view them in Live? sorry to ask such probably dumb sounding questions but I never really did understand the differences between all these different compression formats...

Will Ableton allow for these other formats in future do you think or is this unlikely?

Thanks Polyphonic for the tip - even if it was blindingly obvious! :-)

Cheers,

Adam
