Ableton Forum

HI!!!

I am completely at the end of my wits, this is the first time ever that I have to post in the forum. Basically theres not much more to add to the title.
I have had my APC40 MkII for over a year now and it has never given me problems until now. Everything works fine, all buttons work fine APART from the damn record-arm buttons on each track. When I press them nothing happens. I mean, nothing at all, no light no nothing.

I have gone into preferences and reconnected it there, i have restarted my macbook, i have switched usb cables, turned it on and off, tried it in other projects, tried it without ableton open, nothing.

I use Ableton 10, a Macbook Pro 2017 with High Sierra 10.13.6.

If someone has any idea then please let me know because Im supposed to record a performance this week.

Can you add the AKAI as a MIDI Controller by turning Remote on and MIDI Mapping them to something, this is a second way to test that the physical hardware is working, the first is to observe the message boxes that flash in the top right hand corner of Live when buttons are pressed.

I have the same problem since today.
Ableton 10.1.30
Catalina 10.15.7
The Record buttons no longer output a signal (MidiView).
Yesterday, the APC ran as always without problems. wtf*

same issue here on my apc40 Mk2... also ableton V10.1.30
the record enable just stopped working, not even seeing it in ableton as a midi command...and just out of nowhere...

Im on windows 10. clicking record enable with the mouse works to enable rec, even lights up rec enable red on the controller, and all other buttons work. Ive tried disabling and re enabling the midi prefs and control surfaces.... nada yet.

the button totally reads in Resolume and on my desktop ableton.

So this is a wierd conclusion! The new version of ableton wont work with the elgato thunderbolt dock I use... Try swapping your usb port maybe!

scratch that.... it stopped working again. JUST the rec enable.... so weird

found a solution again! My reloop midi controller was interfering so i turned off its midi control surface. I dont love that I lose some of its midi function but its a sacrifise to get my REC-ARM function back!
