now i know it is not fm synthesis, so let me ask...
what can operator do that is so much different than a synth like this...
you can get pads, bass and leads from the automat...
adamajay, i have heard some amazing demos you have done with only automat.what is your opinion

ok. changed it
Altough the website (www.alphakanal.de) does say that tiger is needed.
What can the operator do that is so much different than a synth like this...
It all boils down to the sound you prefer.
I like using them both because to me, they sound different.
The operator has a whole different approach to programming it too.
And the velocity modulation is something unique that allows you to make patches, you wouldn't be able to make with automat.
And then there's the tone/time parameters...

Wait till they added a randomize button on the operator 8O

I'm still digging into the new version of automat though.
Some of the Bass-sounds make my hair blow back like i where in a windtunnel.

Did you try out the factory presets?
I know they are not visible. But you can acces them though.

After you loaded Automat in a livetrack. Double-click on automat in the clip view. (not the GUI) and it will show you the basic patches.
There's a pretty phat bass patch in there.

Cheers

I made a couple off patches to add to the presets.

Install in user / library / audio / presets /

I'm going to try it out later, though I did have problems with the last release of Automat crashing Live 4 on me. I was planning on running it past the developer in hope of rooting out the problem but never got round to it. Maybe this release will get rid of the problem.

Looking forward to trying it out...
