Does anyone know why when I drop the stock reverb on a track that it significantly reduces the volume level? Am I doing something wrong or is this normal?

Wet Dry (mix) control? I can see that lowering the level since it fades between reverb and original output.

Thanks. That does help and with a little increase in gain it seems to work out fine.

Just stick a Utility on that track too

I find by using Return tracks for Reverbs helps with this.

This is pretty much effects in general though.

Pretty much every effect will have some type of effect on volume (sometimes perceived or, actually affect it). Reverbs often puts stuff in the background perceptually.

Use the reverb as a send instead of an insert effect, and set wet/dry to 100% wet.

When used as an insert, there will always be some attenuation due to the wet/dry mix, which acts as an internal cross fade between the two signals.
