Is there a way to have more than 1 template? it would be great if on initial load up of the program i could actualy choose from a couple different setups depending on what i wanted to do. It would save alot of time erasing tracks and making new ones.
If this isn't an option, it really should be.
Oh yeah I'm using Live 4. Don't have the money for the upgrade yet.

yes this would be a great feature, especially if you want to have different setting for your midi controller at different times.

Well, if I have understood you correctly, a work-around is to save various templates as live songs (sorry, at work and can't check if that's the correct term) and then just open the one you want to use once the "official" template has opened.

I guess it doesn't have the feature. Oh well. It's pity really, it seems to be a standard feature on every major sequencer I've ever used.

what a very important feature that all sequencers already have (not)

Create a folder called "TEMPLATES"

Set up a bunch of different templates and save them in that folder. Thats how other sequencers do it excpet in live you just go there with your browser and click on the file.

er, huh? What do you mean most sequencers don't have the feature? I know Cubase deffinately has it, and DP has something similar. I assume Logic has the feature as well but I don't remember. I don't like the program and avoid using it.
But it IS a good feature even if you personally woudn't use it. If you got prompted on what kind of project you wanted to start when you dry launch the program, it would save me time. I prefer that method to digging through folders, and sometimes accidently saving over my templates.

this is the way ive been doing it for a while. works fine

just be sure not to forget to save your new project under a new name when you use one of these templates, cuz you'll save over your fine tuned template by accident

logic doesn't have this feature at least up to v6 - it just loads the file called autoload.lso in its dir automatically which serves as a template.

i agree that it'd be a good feature, maybe someone should post an entry in feature wishlist-forum?

if you are a MAC user

make the template and save it as .als
then with finder choose "get info" for the .als file
then check stationary pad


next time you launch the .als file OSX will make a copy and open that insted

with some application you will then get an option to change the name 9of the copy) but with live it just adds a 1 to the end

(templates for all your app this way)

setting your new "templates" folder's attributes to read - only will stop this happening

yeah this is what i did - saved 2 templates on my desktop to launch ableton - one for dj one for production
