Rescans VST folder on every launch

Every time I launch Live 5 it rescans the VST folder and every time I have to click OK on 30 dialogs for VSTs that are not compatible with Live 5!! Previous versions never did this.
I have deleted my preference folders .... no joy!

Also ,,,, why oh why can we not rename midi and audio channels? I have 16 midi ports and 52 audio channels. This is a major pain in the arse!

Ctrl + R : rename

And for the VST check, did you try to drag out of your vst folder all the vsti and fx not compatible with live and try to restart...

Aha - this could be my problem aswell. Is there a list of these incompatible vsti's anywhere zekrab?

I don't think there's an official list... just search on the forum.

Anyway, the best thing to do when you crash at startup is to remove all your plugins from the vst folder and drag them back one by one and see what's happening when you start Live.

And, always make sure you have the last update of the VSTi or FX.

... but these are plugins that are only compatible with Cubase SX (or so the dialog says) and I use Cubase SX 3 more often than I use Live. I can't just remove them!

Again, this didn't happen with previous versions of Live. The dialogs were only displayed when you manually rescanned the VST folder from the prefs dialog.

Oh and thanks very much for the CTRL-R tip!!!

The best way is to create a second VST folder with a copy of compatible plugins for Live!

No. There are some special plugins that are compatible with Live (and also very useful when used with Live), and still as a part of their operation they respond with a dialog to a scanning operation like this. For example, as I wrote in another thread, plugins "teleported" into another machine through FX Teleport react this way. The forced startup scan then gets to be somewhat annoying.

How about one dialog:
"One or more VST plugins are not compatible with Live. Would you like to view a log? Yes/No."

CTRL-R doesn't work here.
Are you sure we are talking about the same thing?
I want to rename audio and midi PORTS, not tracks.
I tried using CTRL-R in the Options->Preferences dialog.
