Live freezing on Windows XP Home

I am having trouble with every version of Live demos freezing on a Sony Vaio laptop that has Windows XP home as it's OS. Is this a known issue and is there something that can be done to get it working?

Hola amigo,
Can you be more specific: Does the whole system crash, or just live ?
When does it happen? When launching live? or doing something in particular?
What's your soundcard, RAM, processor?

Hi zekrab,
The system freezes and it could happen at any stage, start up, playing or even resizing a section of the screen. The laptop specs are Pentium 4 3.0GHz, 512MB Ram and the soundcard is the internal SoundMax Integrated Audio. Cheers.

Well, i don't know... Incompatibility with your sound card?
What drivers are you using? ASIO, directX, MME?
Did you try using Live without any VSTi or FXs?

I also tried it with the M-Audio Firewire and without VSTi and FX but the same thing happens. I am thinking it is XP Home and upgrading to XP Pro is proving very difficult. I shall persevere......

Don't bother upgrading to XP pro. Live runs perfectly with xp home.
Do you have any background prg running at the same time? Do you have your power management ctrl panel on always on?

Updating the audio drivers seems to have fixed the issue (no crashes lately). Thanks for the pointer zekrab.
