^^ A mate of mine fell to that one too. He bought the latest 667MHz brand new - $10kNZ at the time - and I was so jealous… until the “memory bandwidth” issue came out. Six months later I bought a second hand 500MHz and that’s the one I’ve still got. Dodged a bullet there.

^^^^ I nearly switched to Windows at the time to be honest. I had recently switched from Digital Performer to Logic. That, would have been another blow right? I can't remember off the cuff, but it was just a few months later after I made my decision and replaced that powerbook with the 800mhz one with a sizable cache, that Apple announced they bought Logic.
Oddly enough it was Pluggo and how much I enjoyed using it that had me not switch to PC, and we all know it ended up being swallowed into Live as part of Max for Live.
