push 2 automation record beginning mid-clip??

hey there,
can anyone either duplicate the issue, or give me insight as to why when i go to record automation on an audio clip in session view via push2, that the playhead begins mid-clip? all my start flags are at the beginning of the clip, and the clip plays as expected. recording automation via the computer starts at the beginning of the clip as expected.
the issue on push 2 seems related to the loop length, as the start position of the automation recording varies depending on loop length.
im on ableton 11 running push 2 running firmware 1.0 build 71, on a 2019 iMac running mojave.
