I actually solved this using the IAC-driver to make a midi-clip that's mapped to select the clip that's containing the scale.
If you want to do the same, you have to setup IAC-drivers. There's a youtube channel called FromStudioToStage that explains it very nicely. It lets you to route midi out from a midiclip and back into ableton, allowing you to do all sorts of cool automation, like selecting a midi-clip.
