Ableton 11: Assign Macro Variations to a Macro or make it automateable
Ableton 11: Assign Macro Variations to a Macro or make it automateable
Hi together,
i'm searching for a possibility to do like i ask in the topic but cant find a way it works. over the MIDI-mapping some keys are showing to do this steps. but assign a MIDI-key mapped option are not able to assign to a macro (or i'm to stupid for that).
to the background:
push 2:
live i want to play at the same pad (push 2) maybe a kick. i created some variations of that kick. now i want to use a macro to scroll/switch between this variations live. with this i only have one pad, instead of each per variation.
producing:
instead of create an own track, or assign a pad in drum rack per variation i need to assign the "scroll/switch" mode to an automation. with this i can use only one track, but be able to create different kicks over the automation in this track.
maybe someone has an idea. i'm stuck on it and wonder, why it is not possible over the "normal/easy" way ableton does all other macro/automation-assigns. without this possibilities macro variations make no sense at this point. it is nice to create them. but the potential of it is missing, if everyone cant work with it (my opinion).
thanks and regards
marc

Im thinking the same here - I would really like to be able to launch macro variations at scene launch, it doesn't seem like this is possible.

yes this is the strangest thing they left out
you can automate scrolling up and down and hitting the play button on the macros but what most users want is to be able to assign each macro separate midi notes/keys, etc

hopefully!
I thought "cool... nice feature..." but with this current version no live-act or in general an ableton-user cant really "use" it.
what happened after save it in the "nirvana"... nothing... "it lives there"

Variation triggers are mappable again in the latest beta 11.0.5
Re: Ableton 11: Assign Macro Variations to a Macro or make it automateable
By that do you mean you can map different macro presets as an automated channel?

so what does it mean?
Re: Ableton 11: Assign Macro Variations to a Macro or make it automateable
good question. without automation function i think it has no benefit. maybe we will see it in an other release.

I'm really exited with this new feature. Hopefully we'll be able to automate the macro variations in the next release
Even better they can implement an 'XY PAD input' in the group layout so we can morph and automate 4 or more different macro variations at the same time.

Smooth Automator lets you do that: automation + smoothing

The final version of SnapShooter is coming in the next few days, with full Push (and any midi controller) and keyboard control. The version linked here was a prototype, what's coming will make our life easier
