Windows 10 ASIO Audio completely stops working, videos no longer play.

Has anyone else experienced this issue on Windows 10? I've encountered it pretty regularly on my Dell desktop as well as occasionally on a Lenovo laptop.
When I use Ableton it often screws up the audio on the whole computer. No audio comes out and if I for example go to youtube the videos won't play, you'll see the spinning circle where it looks like the video is trying to load but the videos never load. Not on Youtube or any other site. No audio will work at all on my PC.
I have looked this up online and I've stepped through all the normal fix it steps. Reinstalled drivers, ran the troubleshooter etc. The problem keeps reoccurring regardless. The only way to fix it is reboot the PC. Then it will work again, for a period of time before the audio drops out entirely again. Happens once a day usually when I'm working in Ableton a lot. If I'm not making music it happens much less frequently.
Anyone else have this problem? Even though I despise Apple, it's making me wonder if I should switch.

Here we go again.......
No information or whatsoever about an interface, how are we supposed to help you?

Did you update to the newest Win 10 version (20H2)?
I haven't done this yet and I don't want to now ...
I'm on Win10 Pro btw (NI Komplete Audio6 sound card, the old version that's not for sale anymore).

Does your windows sample rate match lives samplerate? Depends on audio device too as asio is a single application driver so when it’s in use it does not work with other software, but again, audio interface would be useful to know, if windows audio is same samplerate as daw, the shared audio driver can still work with other apps.

It's that this isn't an interface issue. How could that stop videos in a browser? Anyway I've had this problem with two different brands of interfaces.

Yes, that's a good point. Consistent sample rate throughout your system is very important. Which the possible solution I found also mentions. He explains that it's an issue with ASIO and he uses "voicemeeter banana" to get around the problem. I think this is what's happening on my system.

I just set it up and so far no problems. Although it's only been a couple hours.
Thanks

No, you SHOULD state what interface, computer, OS you have any time you ask for help as the interface can play a part when you have audio issues. Same as if you have issues walking through your front door, the door can play a part in the issue and it never hurts to post a detail that may not be needed, completely different than needing details that are not there.
There is no "issue", just you need to understand what ASIO is and why it works the way it does. As I mentioned, DEPENDING on your audio interface will depend on how you can make it work. For instance, using ASIO4ALL with the internal audio interface may not allow you to workaround this situation at all. But in most cases with a pro audio interface just having windows set to the same sample rate as live allows both the ASIO driver and WDM drivers to work at the same time and offer shared playback from your interface.

Sorry but it does NOT matter what interface I use. In fact it doesn't even matter which DAW you use! The guy on youtube uses fruity loops.
It's a Windows 10 / ASIO issue. Yes, it is an issue. It's not some misunderstanding of how ASIO works. I already had matched up the sample rate throughout the system well before I posted here. That did not solve the issue.

Appreciate the desire to help but when I said it makes absolutely no difference what interface I use, I meant it. It's a Windows issue, it's not an Ableton or interface issue. That's why I asked, "Has anyone else experienced this issue?" If you had this problem, you'd know it.
It still happens to me, and it kind of seems like it's triggered by youtube or videos being played in a browser. And it stops audio throughout the whole system when it happens.
If this happens to you, here is a temporary fix. It will fix the audio but it could happen again at any time.
Go to search and type 'services'
Scroll down towards the bottom and right-click on 'Windows Audio' and then select 'restart' from the pop-up menu.

ASIO is an EXCLUSIVE driver which means that ONLY one audio source can use it at the same time, you probably have something running in the background that is randomly taking control of your Audio. Details here from Microsoft on how to set up your PC for pro audio use, particularly parts 2 and 3.

Thanks, I'll read through that link.
Although this happens even when I'm not using a DAW and it also happens on my laptop sometimes which doesn't have Ableton installed. I now try to avoid Youtube entirely when I'm working in Ableton and will watch tutorials etc. on my phone. Seems to help.
