In the new version of Ableton the rewire function is not supported anymore. But Protools just released a feature wich enables you to link ableton to pro Tools with a button. So one company droppes a feature while the other brings out a feature that is based on the feature which is not supported anymore? wtf? Can“r Ableton make their own rewire plugin? why propellerhead?

You can still enable Rewire in 11 with options.txt and "-EnableReWire" option.

why propellerhead?
They were purchased by a equity fund in 2017, since then they made big changes like changing the company's actual name (to Reason Studios), killing products like Rewire and Europa VST, and introducing a subscription model (ewww).

AFAIK they never provided any real reason (badabump) for those changes.
Ableton Link is not really based on Rewire, has almost nothing in common with it, it doesn't send/receive MIDI, it doesn't send/receive audio, it does not have "host/device" division (all "linked" apps are equal), it works over networks like WiFi, etc..
