Limits of M4L

1)I have tested alot of devices but can't find a good way of just adding more macro knobs to a rack. Is that that is inherently difficult to do with M4L?
2) Another thing I can't understand why I can't find is a note triggered envelop for audio effects. I'd love to be able to trigger a audio fx sweep on each key press. I know that I can use that native envelope device but its a midi control so I can't build an audio rack and save it to be reused.
This could also be just me not understanding how m4l and ableton workflow is supposed to be or just that I have some needs that other people don't care for.
