Operator Coarse modulation by ratio

Hello,

Simple question, is there a way to modulate the coarse parameter of Operator's Oscilators by step Ratio.
I explain myself: when modulating the coarse knob with a M4L LFO, the coarse parameter act as a normal pitch knob, modulating the entire range of its oscillator, creating sweeps and out of tune values. What I'd like to do is modulate it with a LFO by ratio step, just as you do with the mouse or with the modulation automation, changing ratios, not pitch. Quantized modulation in a way.

Any Idea ?

Cheers,

Kinan

You can get close with the stock max LFO and this very handy device: https://maxforlive.com/library/device/5894/cv-quantizer

Add it to the Operator track along the stock LFO. Map the LFO to CV-Quantizer's Input dial, then map the CV-Quantizer to Operator's coarse dial.

Never knew it would behave like this. Interesting...

Thanks, I didin't know that device.

It's a good way to fake it but it's actually just a time quantization. By setting the snap parameter to 48 you can approximate the actual "mouse values" but the quantized signal don't realy fall on the exact same notes.

Good workaroud though if you just need the stepping effect.

Tks,

Heh... much easier solution:
Group the Operator into a rack, macro-map the Coarse control, and map an LFO to it.

Great solution ! Thanks ! It works perfectly !
