Simple concept to modernize Ableton.

1. Delete the file menu bar. It’s ugly, unsightly. It’s a waste of ~90 vertical pixels.

2. Replace File menu bar with a modern UI Gear icon -> Control Panel that has all the same functions with tabs in the same order for File, Edit, Create, View, Options, and Help. Hotkeys tips still provided. Keep the traditional Apple/Window window size modifiers in the same Location.

* Not to be confused with Full Screen Mode.

Pros:
1 - ‘Control Panel’ menu system is more intuitive and inviting that current menu system.
2 - Saves Vertical pixel so we have screen real estate
3 - Gear = Settings is universal symbol and easy for users to adopt.

It’s the little things that matter.

not sure I’m a fan of this idea. sounds like you’d have to click twice to just get to the menu tab you want, then click on the actual thing you’d want to do—do I have that right? this might be a non-value-add for many of us with larger monitors. I definitely don’t want to be forced to add another click just to save a little screen space.

having an option to choose whether you want to use something like this or the standard menu format is something I could get behind though.

The antiquated top menu is still featured by every operating system. Why? Because it’s very efficient. Do you want to add extra steps for no good reason other than shape consciousness.
