Tempo & Delay

I have two questions/concerns...
It's been a couple months since I've used my MIDI keyboard (Alesis v25) and Ableton Live Lite, now I'm having problems with it.
There is a delay in the sound.
Also, I was wondering how I can record something setting a Gloabl Tempo. Is there a way to automatically detect and set it?
